reading aloud never gets old

Several years ago, I read a couple of books that really shaped our homeschool. They are Books That Build Character and Honey for the Child's Heart. These two books are annotated bibliographies of great books to read a loud to children. Reading these books set us on a journey that has included books like the Secret Garden and Anne of Green Gables to and entire month of Harry Potter--twice. Right now we are reading The Book Of Three and it is as fun and full as many others.

Generally, I like to read to the kids at lunchtime, but then, if we have a really good book, we turn to it in the down hours of the weekend and just before bed. Often our weekends and nights are too full but when I am not reading to them, and they need time to unwind, they love to listen to Books on CD as well.

When Four was born, the kids spent an entire two months just listening and drawing.

I have listed only a few of the books we have read together.

What are some of your favorite read aloud books?
